Running (Trail) 3:00:00 [1] 23.37 km (7:42 / km) +400m 7:06 / km
shoes: Hoka Stinson 3

Rundle Riverside with Carbon, Tom, Heather, Simon, the Davids and Bryan.
Started at Miner’s Hall downtown, headed up by the power plant on the new legacy trail extension, EKG to the Meadow, then picked up the new Rundleside Connector trail to avoid doubletrack.
Had a brief fast section when Simon told me to go ahead rather than wait for him on the golf course road, so I raced to catch the group which we had fallen back from.
All the way to Banff and then hit the rooftop patio at Rose and Crown for drinks and food. Good times!
Pace was pretty easy and I was pleased with how fresh I still felt at the end.

Dirtbags
Did a little of my own Llew warm up before.
Jogged from the CNC dirt parking lot, out the Banff trail pavement, until we turned off onto the gravel on the first left that heads up toward the meadow.

6 x 600m up the hill, passing under 2 bridges and up the steeper track to the left to finish on top of the bridge deck, then jog back down. Plenty of fast people tonight.
About 2-3 minutes rest, then do it again.
I wasn't surprised to be tired after yesterday's run which is currently long for me. Went moderate on the first 2 reps and then was able to increase the speed a little on the remaining reps.

Took the pavement back, with 5 x 30s hard sprint and 30s recovery and regroup. Still had good punch for these.

Then to the Canmore hotel for drinks, snacks and watching the awesome Raptors game.

Running (Road) 54:00 [2] 9.86 km (5:29 / km) +30m 5:24 / km
shoes: Hoka Stinson Evo

From the office to Hextall bridge at the beginning of Bowness. Followed the south river path.
It's been so long since I've run this route or run road that I actually enjoyed the pavement (most of it).

Running (Road) 53:00 [2] 9.68 km (5:29 / km) +12m 5:26 / km

The return trip from Hextall bridge to the office. It was starting to get warm, it was a long run with no water in the heat. Followed the path on the north side of the river.

Sulphur-Pneuma-Family Guy-moosepackers-Tom Snow with Carbon.
The trail wasn’t as dry and loose as it gets later in the season so it was extra nice for climbing.
Took the cutline cutoff to avoid the first loose downhill and hopped over to the upper bit of Family Guy which avoided the ugly steep bit at the top of Pneuma and the worst section of climbing on Moose Mountain road.
Still snow along Packers trail, had to walk parts of it.
The switchbacks down Packers were nice and tacky, and not skidded out yet.
Opted for Tom Snow for a more direct route out but much of it was a sloppy mess and sections look like they are getting no maintenance; I won’t bother with this route again and will stick to the Ridgeback options, no matter what.
Pizza date in Bragg Creek after.

From Woody’s house, up to the right side of the drainage of G8 access. Continued up across the G8 access trail. Looks like it would be fun downhill riding if you can connect to it. Followed it up and then took a smaller trail that cuts right to connect eventually with G8 Bonus but you encounter the no trespassing signs before then so we dropped down early and did an off trail connection back to G8 Access and down the drainage and right, to the power station at the bottom and Pointe of View condos.

weight:65.7kg shoes: Instinct (since 2018 02 19 maj

Lake Minnewanka with Slice, Carbon and Steve. Kat Pow joined us for the first 6 km.
Enjoyed a long break on the beach by the ranger cabin. Then continued on to LM22 campsite. I especially enjoyed this section past the cabin that we don’t ride often. The trail isn’t as wide and feels a little more adventurous but was clear and pretty smooth. Some bikers told us it got chunkier after km 22.
Raced back at a fun fast clip despite being out of snacks and a little bonky.
Such a fun day.
