Mt Allen-Collembola loop with special guests Bash and ‘Bent, plus Myka, Carbon, Slice, Steve, Tom, Heather and David M.
Went clockwise to start with Collembola but turned around before the first false summit when some loud cracks of thunder and ugly skies made us be sensible about not pushing on. Got hit with a nasty hailstorm on the way down but had still had a fun time with the off-piste route on the way up and the bushwhack on the way down. Once we got lower down, the weather had turned beautiful but we were soaked and chilled so we went for lunch and then hit the brewery. Still got a good workout.

Biking (Road) 1:40:00 [1] 45.0 km (2:13 / km)

Fenlands (Banff) to the 1A, then turned around after the first one-way section. With Tom, Heather and Carbon.

Paddling 1:00:00 [1] 5.0 km (12:00 / km)

Carbon and I rented some canoes from Banff canoe club with Tom, Heather, Dave and Suzanne. Started out with canoe paddles but soon assembled the carbon wingblade kayak paddles and enjoyed them much more. The others got a kick out of seeing this strange looking setup, and then were more amazed when they saw what speeds were possible. Good fun to be at it again, and a beautiful setting as we went up the Bow River and into Vermillion Lakes with beautiful postcard mountain scenery all around. Got off the water just before it started to rain.

Running (road) 55:00 [2] 9.73 km (5:39 / km) +43m 5:32 / km
shoes: Hoka Stinson Evo

The goal was to do a long slow run with the pace slower than my usual 5:30/km LSD pace. Whenever I wasn't paying attention, the pace would sneak back to 5:30... I guess I've done so many km at that pace in the past that the body just wants to settle in to that cadence and stride.

West along the Bow River path on the south side to Shouldice.

Started at Tank 310 Brewery and then ran up to the Horseshoe trails. Out on the upper part of the mail loop to the G8 junction creek, then dropped down the steep loose trail and took our first right, eventually hooking back in with the Horseshoe loop again.
