Hiking/Walking (Caving) 1:00:00 [1]

Hiked up to Rat’s Nest Cave, did a bunch of caving and hiked out. A really fun afternoon and an ideal activity on a rainy day.

Castle to Moraine Lake and back. Beautiful new asphalt on highway 1A, it felt like the bike could glide forever. Strange to see Moraine Lake with no cars and very few visitors. Very low water level in the lake right now, not as spectacular looking as when it is full, and the ice cover on much of it took away from seeing lots of the beautiful water colour it is famous for.
3/4 couloir looked amazing and had some ski tracks on it.

Dirtbags repeats up Spray Lakes Road.
Warmed up by jogging up to the gate.
2 pyramid sets of:
3 min, 4 min, 5 min, 4 min, 3 min
With 2 min recovery between intervals and 5 min between the two pyramid sets.
Had to run downhill for the last 3 min interval of each set because we reached the top of the hill.
Then jogged back down to the cars as cool down.

Montane Traverse with Carbon. Out to Harvie Heights, took the harder line down the tower descent and it didn’t seem as hard as in the past (although there is still one sicker line to work up to). Up Meander and Meander Glades, down Johnny’s. Then explored the singletrack on the south side of Douglas Fir bench. Fun flowy single track for a while and then it ended near the condos on Palliser Drive. Rode up to Red Rock Pizzeria for the perfect finish to the ride.

Biking (Mountain ) 1:00:00 [2] 8.0 km (7:30 / km) +400m 6:00 / km
shoes: Instinct (2020 Feb overhaul)

Riding up Prospector and then the new summit trail to ridge top before helping with trail building. A continually challenging climb, definitely a bit of a test.
Finished the evening with a great ride down lower Prospector. Had my best descent yet. Just flowed through the whole thing, didn’t feel a need to stop and check the lines. Felt a little easier than usual. Must be the karma from the trail work. (Also I think my fork pressure is a little higher after servicing than I used to run it and this may be an improvement)

Strength 1:30:00 [3]

Worked on two corners to make them a little more rideable. Cut out some new trail to give more width for the turn. Moved a lot of earth from the upper part of the corner to the lower part to make the angle in the turn easier. Built up the outsides of the corners to give some berm for climbing or descending (this is intended to be a climbing trail but I could see people choosing the descend it too).
