Biking (Mountain) 2:40:00 [2] 28.3 km (5:39 / km) +600m 5:07 / km
weight:65.6kg shoes: Instinct 2021 March overhaul

Did some easy doubletrack, as per what the physio will let me do with the knee. The knee feels pretty strong and confident; the worry is crashing and twisting it.
Parked at the Cave and Basin in Banff and rode the Sundance trail to Sundance lodge. A pretty lodge and no one there so we got to enjoy their pretty lawn to ourselves. Almost no one in this trail. Walked a couple of sections that were a little rough, just to be safe.
Plenty of climbing, I could feel some lost fitness and fatigue from yesterday.
Pretty forest and a spot we’ve never been to.

Biking (Road) 3:38:00 [2] 84.0 km (2:36 / km) +850m 2:28 / km

From Castle junction with Melissa, Peter and Houda to Moraine Lake and back. Such gorgeous scenery as you get the view of the Ten Peaks.
I let the gang go ahead just a little on a couple spots where I chose not to push as hard. The climb from Lake Louise village to the start of Moraine Lake Road is the steepest. It didn’t feel like the knee would get angry if I pushed hard on the steeper bits but I decided not to chance it.
Stopped to chat with Andy Reed, Saira and Martine on the way down, and then Liz and Andrei came by and joined the chat. Fun to see a bunch of people I have not seen in a long time.
Then saw a nice big grizzly bear in the ditch on the road from Lake Louise village back to Highway 1A. Had to move over to the left side of the road to give him some space. He looked nice and healthy.
Some tailwind on the way back, we were flying.

Biking (Road) 3:40:00 [2] 84.2 km (2:37 / km) +500m 2:32 / km

Taking advantage of highway 1 being closed to through traffic while they twin the tricky section just east of Golden. Cars are still allowed on the road up to the construction zone but they have very little purpose to travel this way if they can’t get through. Highway 1 traffic is being diverted south at Castle Junction to Radium and then back up to Golden.
Parked at Field and rode west to see the big high bridge. Kind of fun to be able to stop, walk around and take photos. You are not allowed to stop on or near the bridge in a vehicle and I wouldn’t want to hang out on the side of the road on a bike when normal traffic volumes are whipping by (you’re probably not allowed to walk out onto the bridge normally anyway). A nice ride with just the occasional construction truck going by. The shoulder is a full lane wide in most spots so it is easy to look around and take in the scenery. Carbon spotted two bears playfighting on an avalanche slide path. We stopped to watch them for a while. Really cute and fun.

Knee is barely a little swollen and just a little stiffer than usual, nothing concerning.
