The mildest wax I had was purple, which wasn't at all suitable (or I didn't put enough on). Had no grip for the off, but decided to continue as the tracks were so freshly made. Double pole-ing is hard work! Bit patchy in forest sections.

Running along the ski tracks was nice yesterday, but just as I headed out, heavy snow began, making progressively shower and harder. Arrived at the little track and made my way up the field into the forest. Here things started to go wrong, arriving at a new river across the track I minced around for a minute or so before crossing and plunging into shin deep ice water, no bother though that's fine.
2 mins later as I jogged along a nice flat bit, a loud crack terrified the living daylights out of me, so I lightly scuttled top the edge and held onto a tree. Turns out I was running across a lake/marsh which was thawing nicely. Ran a little further on, until I had to cross this lake/ river again, but decided I didn't fancy any more exciting thawing related surprises, so doubled back on myself all the way home.

Feel much better, the 24hr fast worked again.
Much snow has melted, running along the ski tracks was very nice, until I arrived at a river that has appeared over the last few days, and had to work through deep snow, then edge across a thawing marsh/lake to get to the other side
