Running 2:18:44 [3] 13.76 km (10:05 / km) +1071m 7:15 / km

Merrick Hill Race
What a toughie, had a very mixed race
Started fine as so many people packed in had no choice to go slow. Then the second bit of hill I died on, it was so exposed and lungs on fire, had to stop to inhaler which helped calm my breathing a lot. So by the time we got to the climb to the top of Merrick I was enjoying it, if a bit dehydrated.
Enjoyed the descent off Merrick and made up some time, the bottom was a bit slippy though. Then up onto the ridge and having a new lease of life ready to run the rest.
But then my shoe burst at around 10km. So much so the hole in it was bigger than my foot. So had to take my shoe off and run without. Harder than I thought it'd be as slipping about everywhere. Stopped at the next checkpoint and the marshal gave me some string to tie it up but that lasted about 100m before I had to take my shoe off again. So no chance of enjoying the final descent. And the last climb on the rocky road was just painful on my foot. Bit frustrating as I feel I saved enough so I could push on the last section and then I just couldn't.

But it was a beautiful day for a few hours in the hills so no regrets there.

Running 1:09:29 [3] 10.32 km (6:44 / km) +389m 5:40 / km

Unintentional hill reps with Shettleston
Did 4x 1 long rep, 1 short rep with recoveries on the way back down. They were on some good off road ground.
Didn't feel like I was going very fast but for a first hard session in a while I'm glad I made it to the end.

Then a warm down back to the car park and a nice lift home.

Running 42:15 [3] 7.78 km (5:26 / km) +57m 5:14 / km

Easy run around Queens Park, trying to avoid as many hills as possible. First time for a while that an easy run has felt easy, and legs feeling much better for having done it

Warm up ish to the start. Arrived way too early.

Orienteering 1:06:13 [3] 7.36 km (9:00 / km) +130m 8:16 / km

Uath Lochans, Blue course
Enjoyed doing a shorter course where I could push & feel like I was racing more of the way round. A few hesitations and feeling tired points but all in all good.
Thought maybe I'd have been a wee bit faster but maybe I just need to get fitter.
