Wednesday Jan 30

Road Running 42:21 [3]5.5 mi (7:41 / mi)
shoes: NB 720
Easy run up over the ridge and around the lake. Stiff headwind coming back today. Felt ok, pretty tired going uphill.

Tuesday Jan 29

Road Running 41:59 [3]5.5 mi (7:38 / mi)
shoes: NB 720
Ran over the ridge and around the lake. Felt kinda slow and sluggish today.

Monday Jan 28

Road Running 40:20 [4]5.5 mi (7:19 / mi)
shoes: NB 720
Ran up over the ridge and around GL and back. Still a bit of snow left in places. It was a nice run and my ankle felt good.

Saturday Jan 26

Rock Climbing (indoor) 2:00:00 [3]
Hit up Stone Gardens for some top rope and a little bouldering at the end. I had a pretty good session.

Monday Jan 21

Snow Skiing (Back Country) 5:30:00 [3]
Happy MLK Jr Day! It was a superb blue-bird day of skiing. Matt and I headed up Kendall Stump. Made two runs down the stump and two off of the ridge on the other side. Matt said our total vert was ~4000ft. Good stuff.

Saturday Jan 19

Event: Capital Forest Mega Fat Ass

Orienteering race 40:24 [4]5 km (8:05 / km)
O-meet at Priest Point. I had several mistakes today, the largest on #3 as the control was misplaced on the wrong stump (probably lost 2-3min) then I screwed up and attacked #4 from the bottom (only slight error) then I had trouble finding the main trail after #7 (should have run the road to #8 anyway like Peteris did). My final mistake was not running the beach to the final control and then fighting the unmapped downfall to the finish although I think everyone did the same to the finish. Not terrible, but a lot of mistakes.

Tuesday Jan 15

Road Running 1:20:41 [3]10.0 mi (8:04 / mi)
shoes: NB 720
Ran over to Disco via the locks to do the loop. Roads and sidewalks were pretty slick this morning when I started out, so I had to take it a bit easy. Absolutly beautiful morning with the skiff of new snow and the Oly's were looking almost as good as my wife. Nice easy run. My right ankle is still bugging me a bit.

Monday Jan 14

Rock Climbing (Top-rope (indoor)) 1:30:00 [2]
Hit up Stone Gardens for some top-rope work. I felt good today and climbed pretty well. I onsighted one short V2 bouldering route at the end. Good session.

Saturday Jan 12

Event: Bridal Trails 50k

Road Running race (trail) 33:27 [4]5.2 mi (6:26 / mi) vdot: 51.4
First lap of Bridle Trails relay. I felt good and didn't go out too hard. I felt pretty solid.
C • Smokin' 4
Road Running race (trails) 38:07 [4]5.2 mi (7:19 / mi) vdot: 44.1
shoes: NB 720
2nd lap of relay. The slower time is mainly a result of the darkness and inability to avoid the mud-pits. The course seemed really slow on this lap compared to the first. I settled in a good rhythm though and it was nice to pass several of the 50k solos out on the course. It gave me some motivation to catch the next runner. I almost fell several times and then I finally tripped over a root and went down about 300m before the finish. It was a fun event and I'm glad I did it.
Road Running warm up/down 10:00 [1]
Cooldown jog after race with Eric.

Friday Jan 11

Biking (MTB (night)) 1:48:00 [3]12.0 mi (9:00 / mi)
Night ride at Banner with Hayes and Glenn. Good fun ride. My favorite part was riding up the creek-bed. No bears sighted.
Biking (MTB) 20:00 [2]
Arrived at the ferry early, so I did some spinning on the waterfront trail in Lincoln park. The Olympics were stunning with fresh snow at sunset.

Thursday Jan 10

Snow Skiing 3:30:00 [3]
Hit up Mt. Baker today for my first time. Didn't huck any cliffs since I was skiing by myself, but it looks like there is plenty of potential there. Snow was dumping all day although it was a bit heavy. Still it was a good half-day and I skied hard.

Wednesday Jan 9

Rock Climbing (Bouldering) 1:30:00 [3]
Hit up Stone Gardens for some bouldering. I'm still pretty weak, but I climbed a couple of V2's, but mostly V1s.

Tuesday Jan 8

Road Running 41:07 [3]5.6 mi (7:20 / mi)
shoes: NB 720
Easy run over to Green Lk. and around. My foot doesn't hurt too bad unless I go up steep hills or hit off-camber stuff. I can feel a loose tendon in there, so I'm not too happy about that, but I think I can keep running on it. I'll keep an eye on it and if it gets out of control I guess I'll have to take it easy.

Monday Jan 7

Road Running 55:47 [3]7.0 mi (7:57 / mi)
shoes: NB 720
Ran up to Carkeek and back via my loop. Added the north bluff viewpoint onto the normal loop today. Felt pretty good, but my right ankle has a sharp pain at times. I think I might have twisted it in the mud on Sat, but I don't recall.

Saturday Jan 5

Event: Tiger Fat Ass

Orienteering race 34:23 [5]** 5.2 km (6:37 / km)
Ran BVT O meet today. I had a fairly good run, but I'm still in bad shape, so I think I could have been a couple minutes faster with better endurance. Still, it was a good run. I lost a little time on number 3 (being overly cautious) and then my only other mistake was on exiting #6, I backtracked on the trail that I entered on as a result I probably added about 30 seconds or so.
Biking (road) 2:00:00 [4]
shoes: Jake The Snake
Ride with Glenn, Rinn, and Ken from the O-meet home via I-90 bridge and south half loop of Mercer Island. Fun ride except for my three flats. That's probably the last time any of those guys want to ride with me...

Course 7 - Splits

Tuesday Jan 1

Road Running race 19:11 [5]5 km (3:50 / km) vdot: 52.3
shoes: NB 720
Ran a New Year's 5k on the Tri-Cities International XC course. It was handicapped style so I put down 19:00 for my goal time and just missed it by 11sec. It's a fun format to try and catch up to the slower runners. Felt pretty good this morning.
