Adventure Race 2:15:00 [4] 13.0 mi (10:22 / mi)
BEAST Whidbey (Freeland): Paddle stage out of Freeland. Started @ ~7:30am. Very nice morning for a paddle, glass and sunny skies. Saw a few seals and star-fish on the bottom. We borrowed Glenn's double for the race (thanks Desert Dan!!). Man is that boat slow though, just kidding, I think it was the operators that were slow. The mud at the pull-out was brutal and stinky.
Adventure Race 2:30:00 [4] 15.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
BEAST Whidbey (Ft. Ebey): Stage 3: Started with a very awesome run along the bluff and the beach. I would have to say it was one of the most scenic runs of any AR I have done. Nice cool breeze blowing off the water. It was a chase start and we were 36min behind the leaders after the first two stages, so we were the last team to chase at 2:06pm start. We caught one solo on the beach run and then a couple of other teams on the bike. I think we gained 10min on Manny's, but couldn't quite catch them. I was really wishing I had the map board for some of the tricky trailery. I think I could have been a little faster on the nav with one. We had to hold off a team from the last two cps to the finish, so we pushed hard to the end. Overall great race and as always Tamara did a great job. Thanks for racing w/ me again.
