Rowing race (on water) 19:22 [4] 3.0 mi (6:27 / mi)

Rowed in the Rat Island Sound rowers race in PT. I was in the #3 seat of an 8. We got off to a fast start after a rushed launch and no warmup. I was shivering before the horn blew. There was wet mist all morning but no real wind. Our crew did the half short course and I think most of us were wishing that we did the longer category. It was a fun time. Old course record according to the website was 28:52 but maybe that is only kept for singles or doubles?

On water row in the boat that is set to race on Saturday in PT. I rowed in the #3 seat and the crew did well. We pretty much just gunned it right from the dock for around 2.5mi continuous rowing. We had a good break and then went continuous all the way back. It was probably the highest intensity on water workout that I've had yet besides the race last year.

Rowed at #7 seat in a very un-set boat of 6. We were way down to port almost the whole row so I felt like I was rowing air the whole time. We started dropping out one pair at a time and that helped things a bit. It was probably the worst set I've had to date. Hopefully next time is better.

Hike from campsite on the lower Graywolf back to car. We hiked back via the Cat creek trail. It was a bit brushy most of the way but Kid #1 picked lots of salmonberries.
