Trail Running 1:40:00 [3]
Morning run with Rusty (not Elina because I was mean and didn't ask her to come. sorry girl). Harriman in the summer sucks. First you have to deal with the unreasonably humid and hot conditions which can sometimes make you dehydrated faster than if you were to chug water from the Dead Sea. Then you have to deal with the rocky, root infested trails that try to kill you every other step. There are also the shrubby shrubs and tentacle like plants that get all up in your grill and try to grab your ankles...almost like you're in some kind of a horror movie where something grabs your leg from under your bed. The rattle snakes that like to show up at the most inconvenient time and make you poopy your pants cuz you don't wanna die. And don't even get me started with the ticks and random flying Satan bugs that bite and sting you just because they can. I'm just trying to run! Anyway with all that being said, Harriman does give me an opportunity to run for long periods of time without seeing a single person (yay!) and it's minutes from my doorstep (cool). Also, if you're into it and don't mind blueberry and mountain laurel bushes, there's some world class orienteering. The pros outweigh the cons. Thanks Harriman, for being my home dawg.
