My first competitive run in this area and its fantastic. Really enjoyed it. on the whole got on well. physically quite good. No calf or ankle issue and no throat/chest complaints either and managed to run well for the bulk of the terrain.
No where near clean. Dropped time at 4 controls, about 7 minutes in all, but I beat ALL the M21Es to the last control and I even walked a bit of it. What were you all up to?
So no major blunders but can be so much better.
Tomorrow will be fun. Colm O'Halloran is starting 27 secs behind me. On the ups and flats I'm much faster, but I can't match him on the downhill or technically. An uphill finish would suit me grand...
Interesting the progression in my contact lens wearing in past couple years.
Shamrock day 3 last year was the first time I wore contact in each eye for mountain orienteering. I used +1.5 in each. Up till then it was just a single +1.5.
Today it was +2.5 and + 2.25 which was what I've been using for sprints this year. I will now need to get stronger lens for sprints. The rapid deterioration in the eyes has astonished me.
