My local stomping ground. Brought dog with me but had to be careful he didn't run off on usual trails.
Legs feeling near fully recovered from 10 mile last Monday, so expect they'll be fine for next weekend. Didn't go hard but was tiring at end. 4 smallish misses, perhaps totalling 4 minutes in all.
Nice to run competitively considering how often I'm there and controlling LOC last year.

Did enough to break a sweat. Legs a little sore on downhill. Lovely route though not one I'd like to race. Was getting dark when I was finishing, some nearly took an hour longer. I'm speculating after being 'rescued' with head torches.

Note

Missed going to JK. Reason we did not go was with late Easter it coincided with Zoƫ's sheep lambing. She only had 3 to lamb and they did over weekend, 2 on Fri and one on Sunday. 7 lambs in all, which meant that one lot are triplets with one of the triplets half the size f the other 2.

Well she now has a real life Tomagotchi :D ...remember them from the 90s?, virtual cyber pet.

So she had it in her bed to keep it warm and it needs feeding every 3 hours. It's now strong enough to bleat when it's hungry which wakes everyone else up. Dog is cheesed off with the attention directed towards this titch of a lamb.

My first road race in excess of 5k...not in a mad rush to do another! With not going to JK there was a gap in calendar and I decided to run for club in Leinster 10 mile, 2 twisty laps of St. Anne's. What I hadn't factored was how much the Leinster Champs would have taken out of me and I'm quite sure I carried quite a bit of fatigue into race, so much that I contemplated not running.

None the less I feel I'm in shape to do 62 minutes comfortably, so had ballpark 3.50/km pace in mind. I ran steady from gun and said 'perfect' to myself when first km clicked by in 3.48. So was happy to continue at that pace. Mile markers were not accurate, first one was at 6.50, should have been 6.10.
3.51, 3.51, 3.48 were the next 3 km, but I already had feeling of tiredness in legs during the uphill 5km which was 4.04. The leading lady group had caught up with me and I tried to stay with her for a while but had to let them go. I noticed how heavy everyone around me was breathing yet my breathing was very comfortable, just legs not responding. 6, 7 & 8 km were 3.53, 3.58 & 3.50 and I passed 5 mile in 31.02, bang on target but already knew it was going to be substantial positive split. I was also concious of niggle in top of right thigh, and thought about dropping out, but I soldered on.

10k passed in about 39 minutes, and I didn't break 4min/k thereafter till last km. I stayed with 2nd lady for a while, but had to let her go as well.
So the rest of the km splits from 9 onwards, 3.58, 4.01, 4.04, 4.12, 4.07, 4.07, 4.01 & final km 3.50.

Clearly I would have been sorry not to do it. I'm not a bit surprised how it unfolded, but I do need race free legs. My 4th race in 23 days, 2 of which (Wicklow Way trail & Leinster O Champs) took a lot out of me.

The good news is that despite the twinge in my right thigh/hip, I seem to be 100% now, so I can get some recovery in legs for IOC.

Running warm up/down 8:44 [1] 0.89 km (9:47 / km)
shoes: Asics

Really struggled to put one leg in front of other.
