Orienteering event 1:15:40 [5] 8.0 km (9:28 / km) +250m 8:11 / km

Pewsey vale badge event. Felt as though I had a pretty sloppy run bit somehow only finished 40 seconds behind Liv.
Walked the first control and somehow managed to get the fasted split for that leg. Felt really slow running over the rubbish on the ground going to number 2. Lost 30 seconds to liv there. Lost two minutes on number three because I misread the vegetation boundary of the pine Forrest. I stopped to early and decided I had made a parallel error because I had taken the track route choice. Took me longer than it should have for me to realise I was right the first time. Nailed leg three to four. Went too far down the slope because I saw Brodie and thought I was on the same course as him so headed for his control and ran straight past mine. Lost a minute there.
Five to six... I swear it has been mapped wrong! The logged areas weren't loggest and the vegetation boundaries didn't exist on the map. I ran way way past the control to the road and then had to back track thought the UNLOGGED PINEFORREST that was mapped as logged to my control. Was very frustrated. Managed to keep my head and nailed 7 and 8.
Nine was good until I ran through the logged crap. Not a lot of fun.
Nailed Controls 10-16. Made a parallel error on the gullies at 17 and then felt slow in the finish chute :( because of all my mistakes I was expecting my time to be horrible in comparison to livs but it was so frustrating that after all that hard slog over such a long obstacle course she only beat me by 40 seconds! Ahhhhhhhhh!

Went for a long run up in Cleland National Park with Wendy. After a bit of a jog around we practiced racing the Cleland Bartril Spur Track loop (12.3km, 400m climb) in preparation for the Trail Running SA State Champs on the 19th of April. Was a really pretty area and had a lot of fun :)
