Running warm up/down 15:00 [3]

On the railway path from Brampton. Almost got to the A14!

Running tempo 27:00 [3]

Held on to Will for until a bit under 4.5 miles. Him and/or his watch were a bit all over the place on the way out so was more of a fartlek to start

Running warm up/down 10:00 [3] +40m

Fell Race (Wrekin Streak) 19:37 [3] 4.4 km (4:27 / km) +216m 3:35 / km

Was pissing it down all day but it stopped for the race making for nice damp condtions. Just looked down at the start and let people race away as I hadn't done a full warm-up, when I started looking up they weren't actually that far ahead. Moved into about 5th by halfway before telling another junior off for walking on a non-steep bit. Set my sights on Jack and Billy ahead. Pushed on on the first flat to get near-ish, passed Billy on the concrete whilst Jack got a few extra meters. Closed on the next flat and Heaven's Gate and then were side-by-side to the trig. Didn't have it on the way down and finished 2nd in a slow time. Anyway good to be near the front again.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [3]

Orienteering race (Br Relays Middleton Woods) 40:00 [3]

I think a reduced number of M20s compared to the JK meant the start was a bit slower. Nixon, Dane and I messed up 2 a little but we had the massively short gaffle so was very weird being at 4 with no-one in the field behind.

Minced a bit to five then eight was uphill and I was going backwards fast. I then messed up 9 and 11 and raced David Bunn back from there.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [3]

Orienteering race (Br Long Champs Arncliffe) 1:35:04 [3]

I have missed running on the Wharfdale fells big time. Was well fun smashing it down sketchy limestone slopes.

Didn't do masses of warm-up and went steady at the start, got a bit excited running downhill to 6 (on the right-hand route) and wasn't really going towards the crossing point. Got quite pacey round 7-10 and then slow up to 11 like I was on every other climb on the course.

Bit of a miss on 15 but a train of 20s appeared so had a good race to 19 which I also missed. Awesome descent to 20 but then there was more climb and I was slow round the last few.

My aims were to beat Adam Potter, Tom Bray and top-10. Achieved the first two (though Adam did run without a compass) but the last one was optimistic given the startlist. Gone from 20 minutes down at the JK to 10 here.
