Orienteering (Euromeeting Pursuit) 44:09 [3]
Out in 31st and back in 31st so did as the results-list indicated!
Was actually 24th fastest and probably peaked in about 27/8th out there.
More fairly solid technically but tactically poor. Going out 12s down on Aleksi Karppinen meant my aim was to hang on until the centre of the butterfly, but that came at number 3... I got there pretty quick mind.
I assumed that alternating starters would have different first gaffles. However looking at the results after we had exactly the same course all the way. So doing my own thing from number-3 was not the best plan (although I don't think I would have kept up). Later on in that butterfly I didn't trust a different Finn and lost more time. A fair bit of solo orienteering through to 21 where I made a little miss and got re-caught by a small group. Which I lost again by following the wrong guy to 26.
Plus 4 minutes today which is better but times are clearly compressed by following.
