Orienteering (Sprint the Bay S3) 14:04 [3]

Warm-up was squeezed but running out the start decided I went fast and tried to keep it up. Really struggled to read the busy parts of the map so took some more rounded routechoices in those sections but generally on it very nicely. Was going well before a bit stressed with the map flip. Then 17-19 were in a straight line on the map so I missed out 18, idiot. Didn’t spot a barrier on the long routechoice leg until I saw it in real life so lost some time to the best route there but kept pushing to try slow the deceleration in pace and brain function.

Ended up a minute down, call it 70s with the mispunch. Pleased with this considering the field, warm-up, poor last couple of weeks and the heat.

Just need to give it some some more, I’m not sure why I’m not generally racing with as much conviction as in the past.

Mass start at EIT. Took an incredibly long time to realise I was looking at the wrong side of the map. Eventually sussed it and thought the right routechoice was best but missed a turn and made it a bit longer. Running towards the control it was nothing-nothing-nothing-boom-10 runners on the left route before I punched. From there following until the end of the phi at which point I was dying and got swept up by the second pack, then dropped in the final loop. Blowing the cobwebs out so not too fussed,
