(injured)
Started with the Matlock boys (Dan Howorth what a machine!) and after the baby loop Owain Jones came past, then I passed Jarlath. Obviously it’s easy to get carried away but I was feeling okay and could see Billy a bit ahead. Stuck with a tall guy in navy round the middle lap and most of the large. I was noticeably slow through the mud but held my own on the hills for a change. I lost it a little by the lake on the third lap before getting back on it around the start and spotting Aidan ahead. A fast group formed near the log-jump on the fourth including James Hoad, when I realised it was him I stuck on his shoulder before coming unstuck at the lake again. Thankfully the last lap avoided the worst of the mud in exchange for a nice tussocky route. Rhys cheered me on, then shortly after he cheered on Murray, who came level at the top of the course but I covered him off for 144th. Feeling knee both before and after.
