Plant 2 Plant Day 2
Killarney to Little Island
What a difference a day makes. Very little wind and lots of sunshine. County bounds was the only main climb so a nice easy day. Thankfully as my chesty cough from Thursday night surprisingly didn't get better and I felt pretty bad rolling out from the Gleneagle. Think I sweated some of the sickness out of me going up the climb and was just behind the top group at the regroup point. That gave me a boost as 15 people from the middle group dropped back to ours for the 2nd day so the group was stronger. Back to feeling shite at the food stop in Macroom. Somehow managed to get through the rest feeling grand. Great challenge and all for a good cause.

Plant 2 Plant Day 1
Limerick to Killarney
Hurricane Gert you got us good! Serious headwind, cross winds, heavy rain, hailstone and some scattered sunshine. Tough. Went in the slow group and it was a long day out there. Group didn't really stay together after the food stop in NCW. People were struggling and the support van became popular. By the time we got to Farranfore a call was made that everyone had to get into the van except 8 of us. It was every man for himself from there home as the road captains took off and we were punished for the slow pace of the day. Thankfully my motorbike buddy stayed behind us and stopped traffic on the roundabouts coming into town to get us back quicker. Rolled in 5 minutes behind the vans so was really glad I made the rushed decision to finish. Food intake was low during the day as stops were sporadic and suffered a bit on the hill out of Farranfore. Note to self: always keep a little something in pocket for the end.
