Orienteering (Fish Creek - Elbow) 43:00 [4]*** 4 km (10:45 / km) +15m 10:33 / km
spiked:12/21c slept:8.0 weight:134lbs shoes: Jalas FLX
Excellent 45 minute Score-O set by Karen M. Clarence caught up to me despite starting a couple of minutes behind, but in the end he spent too much time looking for a couple of controls and came in 45 seconds late ...so I won. Don Bayly was there too, and Gabi and Jane. Low turnout for such a nice day and such a great map.

Tuesday Jul 8

Orienteering (Sulphur Springs) 1:30:00 [3]5 km (18:00 / km) +150m 15:39 / km
slept:8.0 weight:134lbs shoes: Solomon
Was training an RtR AR team. A lot of standing around talking, but we managed to move for about 90 minutes of the 3 hour session.

We encountered a medium size blow down area on the South part of the map, it is between the bald south facing slopes and Moose mountain road, but a few hundred m east of the parking lot on MM road.

Monday Jul 7

Note
slept:10.5 weight:134lbs (rest day)
I'm taking too many rest days and too long of a sleep. Will fix that this week I hope.

182 days a teetotaler (~6 months) ...feels good for sure and I expect big race performances out of myself this year!

Barebones (end August): A top 3 in elite on the most technical course
City Chase National Finals (end Sept): Top 2
City Chase World Finals (November): Top 2 (assumes a 1st place in Ntnls)
Fall 10K: a PB, sub 42:30
Fall half-marathon: 90 minutes

Sunday Jul 6

Orienteering (Mt Laurie - Line O) 18:00 [2]*** 1.8 km (10:00 / km) +20m 9:28 / km
slept:7.0 shoes: Solomon
Go slow to learn about the state of the map.
Orienteering (Mt Laurie Contours Only) 32:00 [3]***** 2.5 km (12:48 / km) +40m 11:51 / km
spiked:12/14c shoes: Solomon
Without a compass I managed to screw up leaving #4 at a 90degree left error. On way to #7, drifted left and had to relocate on the ridge above the highway.
Orienteering (Mt Laurie - Intervals) 11:00 [5]1.8 km (6:07 / km) +60m 5:14 / km
shoes: Solomon
Interval course of 6 legs, 600m - see how far you can get in 3 minutes - by the 3rd attempt I was able to complete the course before 3 mins expired.
Orienteering (Orienteering - Ping Pong) 25:00 [4]*** 2.5 km (10:00 / km) +50m 9:05 / km
shoes: Solomon
Ran with Adrian, we traded every 2nd leg, memorizing as the other guy was navigating without map. It was tough on me to keep up as A was a little fresher and is faster.
Orienteering 22:00 [4]*** 2.5 km (8:48 / km) +50m 8:00 / km
spiked:8/10c shoes: Solomon
Ran with 4 others, 3 controls at a time. We left at 30 second intervals ranked on expected speed. Last person to complete was 1st to start next set. Nice drill to simulate race conditions like a relay with lots of competitors going to same controls.

Excellent day of training organized by Adrian!
