OMM day 2. Another wacky route choice - path run out to the hill from yesterday, 3 controls, then epic 10k path run back to a couple of high scorers rather than going over the mountain. Not what I was expecting! And then a 500m orienteering leg through dark green to spike a crossing point, followed by 3k of path.

Again took about 1.5 hours to get going properly, feeling stronger as the day went on. I think this was a food/hydration related thing and I probably started dehydrated again.
Happily the legs and knees coped ok. Only food that worked today were gels, drinks and jelly babies - couldn't face anything else.

OMM day 1. We picked an unusual relatively low-risk route staying close to the road and were rewarded by an absolutely belting day later on where we were first into 3 controls and saw nobody other than marshals for 2.5 hours. A lot of tussocks and terrain and then a path run back. Legs and feet fine at half-way. We were a bit too cautious at the beginning and had plenty of time left over.
I took about 1.5 hours to get going properly and was quite worried at the start that the sinus infection/virus was the problem. In hindsight I think I started dehydrated and probably didn't start eating early enough. Felt loads better after a gel and water.
Food: what worked well: SIS gels, Power gels, H5 powder. what didn't get touched: chocolate, muesli bars, nuts, flapjack.
