Harvester Relay Leg 1 B race 6.1km.

My request not to do a long course required late changes to the NGOC teams to accomodate me. This meant I was down for first leg of the B race. Never planned to get out of 2nd gear and to walk if feeling strained. Was feeling great through the first 10 controls in 25 minutes and was probably leading the pack. Woops may have got a little exited.

Then i started feeling my hip flexor and there was much more walking through the rest coming back in 6th at the handover. Still probabaly higher up than i planned to be when i set off. No major mistakes as I was going slowly and i have run on the hill many times. Got to watch a pack of juniors on my leg keep getting lost and I would overtake them. This leapgrogging went on from control 2 - 15

Really happy I was able to put a run together of sorts and run for NGOC in this their main event of the year.

Training plan now is going to be rather boring and involve a lot of swimming. Probably two weeks then see where i'm at. There's no races planned between now and Canada so I can't be tempted to race when injured.

Note
(injured)

So after my latest injury set-back on Tuesday, the Harvester has come around and I'm still not back to running. I may end up going out on a short leg walk-jogging but this adds to the list of events (Highlander and British Sprints) I had been looking forward to for over 6 months and I am unable to race. My hip flexor has been getting better everyday since but has not healed in time. I've always thought things happen for a reason so I as long as I take forward what i've learnt from this injury into the future I should come back stronger.

May need to invest in some proper swimming shorts to improve that drag coefficient #LifeInTheFastLane

Swimming (Pool) 30:00 [2]

Went to the new Leisure centre at Tewkesbury which has a 25m pool. Meant I had to do much more swimming than i end up doing in the small pool at the Hilton so a hell of a lot more tiring.
