WU checking out the first half a mile of the route and the precarious steep down section. Then drills

Running race 39:42 [5] 9.4 km (4:13 / km) +339m 3:35 / km

Tintern Trot. Severely underestimated this race. Firstly the race name made me assume it would be easy. I had also assumed it would all be on wide tracks which it wasn't and the hill i found a lot tougher than expecting.

Went off a tad too quickly on the 1.5 mile flat old railway line but still felt comfortable up the first climb. The second climb though caught my by surprise as it was steeper. I also thought it was straight up and down but a technical flat rocky section at the top meant I had no time to recover and the three ahead got away. Sort of cruised to the finish once the rocky section was over and annoying lost anther place on the final push. Definitely need to work on my descending skills.

It was too nice an evening not do anything so did 60mins steady. A couple of loops of the fields then went to Deerhurst and back.

After picking up a pull buoy at Lidl i noticed some Beavers/Cubs getting taught orienteering but looking bored out of their minds. Momentarily thought about having a chat to them but instead ran home and made dinner.

Glad I brought my bike home as the weather forecast had improved so Mark and I undertook the Tour de Weald. This included notable climbs up to Sevenoaks, up to the Ice Cream Van in the Ashdown Forest, and a long gradual one up to Crowborough and then various efforts to get home after Rotherfield.

Did a tiny loop once back in Bidborough to tick it over 4 hours but ended up just short of 100km. Mark was probably working harder than me, taking the lead on his touring bike, but he knew where he was going slightly more than i did.

With Mark home and absolutely nothing to do in Gloucestershire I joined him on a long loop on the South Downs.

Starting and finishing in Alfriston, we headed East, cut through Friston Forest, scaled the White Horse Hill then ran on round the ridge all the way back. Sun came out eventually.
