Drove back down to the Lakes from Edinburgh. Chose to go along to this rather than join Mark doing hill reps as thought it was safer for my ankle and its almost back to normal.

Actually enjoyed this more than Jukola as was having to find flags myself rather than following people and getting lost. A bit too high on 10 and binned 60s on 12 not making sense of the hill and standing right next to it.

Very technical white fast forest with hundreds of depressions/hills and fairly limited path running

Story of my run was could have been half decent but let down on 3 occasions by not following my plan.

Strapped ankle up so was able to run and not feel like it would give way at any moment. Went out in 730th.
1. Briefly thought about the right path route but the train took left path route. Overtook loads on the way but poor execution at the end meant everyone reovertook me as I relocated.
Steady 2, 3.
On my own on 4 so played it safe and pathed it.
Plan to 5 was to use the path to the north as an attackpoint as knew I would struggle going straight through the minefield of depressions and hills. I got distracted by everyone else though who went straight and I followed suit. They didn't spike it . I didn't think it was a common control so I bailed to the path to relocate.
6 -12 steady but not perfect
13. Path route looked a bit too far so made a vague plan to use the veg boundary as an attackpoint but even though it was marked as distinct on the map it wasn't obvious to me. Now completely on my own and trying and failing to find the veg boundary I chose to bail to the path and it took ages to get there. I then proceeded to muck up the leg still by missing the path junction and have to go against the flow from the drinks stop.
14-17 fine. Small miss on 18 and went to the wrong last control but checked code and ran over to the wooden structure.

Astonishingly I gained 24 places but I reckon 200-300 was possible so a bit disappointed.

Went to another official training area. This area was not as nice as yesterday as it was much rougher. Ankle still sore so walked round. May have to strap it up and take a painkiller come Sunday.
