Local Event at Mereworth MOD training area - pleasant to run in but very hot, and the map was very out of date (1999), especially in relation to representing the undergrowth, resulting in a 10-15 minute error near the end. This was my worst mistake since February. I made a number of other more minor mistakes near some controls - again, these were often due to the imprecise nature of the map and some "bingo" controls in green forest.

I finished 6th out of 27, six minutes behind the leader. If I hadn't made that big mistake near the end, I'd have won. That's two races in the last four where I could have one but couldn't deliver on the day...

This is the first map I've ever run on with an explicit warning about adders. Apparently the area is crawling with them. I spent a good while during the race treading carefully over logs and undergrowth. I didn't see any, but did spot a lizard at the end.

Cycling (To/From Event) 1:15:00 [2] * 17.5 km (4:17 / km)
shoes: Brown Leisure Shoes

Work to Victoria (not via the Mall as it was closed) then Borough Green to the Mereworth event, including an off-road section. Then back to Borough Green, and finally from King's Cross back home.
