Orienteering race (Terrain Event) 1:00:10 [4] *** 8.74 km (6:53 / km) +157m 6:19 / km
24c shoes: Adidas Adistar Salvations

Rowney Warren. Not as good an area as I thought it would be, particularly as the most interesting section was fenced off and OOB due to mountain bikers. Had a good run though, the only big mistake right at the end where I took a very poor route to the final control, going almost via the finish, and losing 40-50 seconds. Just beat Ian C and Jon M, got narrowly beaten by Helen. It was the JOK Championships and it looked for a moment that I had just lost out - however Roger and Jon Em were both four minutes faster, in the end. Annoying, but hope I get some good ranking points at least.

Actual distance run was 10.5km.

Cycling long (From Event) 5:34:53 [2] 80.55 km (4:09 / km)

Cycling from Rowney Warren to St John's Wood in London, via Wheathampsted and Colney Heath, with Helen. Nasty headwind the entire way (occasionally a cross-wind.) It died down later, but then returned near the end as a strong cross-wind. The last section, down Edgware Road, was definitely a mistake - despite what OSM said, there is no cycle path and also it's a really horrible road! London in general was not particularly nice, especially as it was getting dark. In retrospect we probably should have got a train back from Mill Hill or St Albans. The little roads north of Wheathampsted were very pleasant though. Only one big stop (not timed) plus lots of little ones.

Loads of energy, pleased with my cycle, particularly as it was on an empty stomach - d'oh.

Cycling (Back Home) 34:09 [3] 11.46 km (2:59 / km)

From St John's Wood to home, via City Road. Traffic was pretty bad, especially on Euston Road - not nice at all.
