Via Camomile/Percival Streets.

Cycle Commuting (Back Home) 19:06 [2] 6.27 km (3:03 / km)

New route - along the canal as usual, then off at Victoria Park's Bonner Hall Bridge and across Roman Road. Combines the pleasant canal route with avoiding the overshoot to Mile End Park.

Running Open (aka M21L) at the November Classic in the New Forest. Great weather (cool and sunny) and lovely area. Our course was more in the open that I was expecting, so there was quite a bit of heather in places, which slowed me down a lot, and caused a mistake due to exhaustion in the latter part of the race. My main aim, which I largely succeeded in doing, was to run at a constant HR. This did mean I slowed down slightly in the latter stages - typically, the HR increases slightly during a race. I don't think I could have gone much faster though.

Leg analysis:
To #1: Twisted my right ankle - but didn't hurt too much.
To #2: Was fiddling with my HRM strap a lot here, trying to tighten it.
To #4: Overshot slightly - the detail on the map wasn't great here. I've made big mistakes in previous November Classics in this area. 30s.
To #6: Went straight - straight through a marsh. Also had trouble finding the actual control. 30s.
To #7: Got lucky here, thought I was somewhere else, and ran on to it.
To #9: Took a tumble, and got confused with the detail. 1m.
To #10: Should have been a fast, flat leg, but I was tired & slow. 1m.
To #12: Approached control with caution due to wild ponies very close by.
To #19: Had a lot of difficulty leaving #18 up the slope. I was very tired by now and was unable to concentrate. 30s.
To #20: A bit careless in the circle here. 30s.

So, just 4 minutes of mistakes. Actual run time (my Garmin paused when I wasn't moving) was 1:22:29, and actual distance run was 14.5km - so overrun of 16%. Pleased with the time - 1:23:45 - was easy to type in to Attackpoint!

First time I've run with an HRM - on my Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS receiver. I would have normally rated this a "3" for intensity, as I wasn't pushing very hard, but my HRavg was around ~175 consistently throughout the race, which is definitely in anaerobic (zone 4) territory.

Cycling (To/from Event) 1:51:55 [2] 36.68 km (3:03 / km)
max:167

To/from Waterloo and from Brockenhurst to/from event. I wore the HRM for the Brockenhurst to event section (uphill much of the way.) HRmax was at top of a 65m climb up a road. HRavg was 137.

Trail Running race (BPTT) 19:34 [5] 5.0 km (3:55 / km)
slept:6.5 shoes: £20 Lightweight Running Shoes

166th BPTT. First time out with the Garmin Forerunner 305 I got last week. Cool weather but nice and sunny again.

Had a slow start first kilometre. Pushed harder from normal from 2.5km-4.8km. Overtook quite a few people in the last km - I don't normally do this, but was looking at my pace on the Garmin. Felt suddenly in pain at 4.8km, possibly due to adrenalin, so eased off but didn't get overtaken. Finished 36th. Pleased with my time, but I need to be careful not to overexert myself. Think I had "red-lined". Will run with HRM next time and see what happens.

I was unable to bring myself to jog around the lake during my warm-down, so I just walked around it instead.

Garmin date:
Negative split race (second half 18 seconds faster than first.)
Kilometre times: 4:06, 3:53, 3:53, 3:53, 3:49.
Distance/time: 5km/19:33.

Cycling (To/from Event) 1:41:00 [3] 31.0 km (3:15 / km)

To Putney, via Clapham Common, then back via The Embankment. The former is definitely the better route.
