MTB 1:20:00 [4]
palgrave west trails plus road to get in a 20 min warm up then 3x15 min thresholds at 85% - felt OK but the legs are still fatigued - trails are in excellent shape!

Friday Apr 20

Hiking 1:45:00 [2]
felt the legs were too sore for another ride, so decided to challenge myself with a hike in the valley...oops - the bike would have probably felt better, as all the ups and downs of the trail were killing my quads - beauty night for a hike though, and lots of deer evidence abounds...

Thursday Apr 19

MTB 2:15:00 [3]
spin to Inglewood and back via rail, road and trail - checked out some Inglewood trail, but it was still too mucky :( patience grasshopper....

Wednesday Apr 18

indoor spin 45:00 [2]
easy spin under 75% for leg recovery - amazing how this has helped the aching muscles! will do another one later tonight...
indoor spin 20:00 [1]
easy pm spin in a effort to keep loosening up...

Tuesday Apr 17

Misc. (treadmill) 20:00 [2]

tonnes o stretching for the aching legs. felt excellent..
indoor spin 15:00 [2]
easy spin after the drive home to loosen up - feeling better!

road run 20:00 [2]
warming up, and by warming up I mean this as desperate attempt to warm up before the race in the pouring rain and mud at the athletes' village - took a spin down the roads...then the rain tried to stop as we headed for the start.
road run race 3:48:00 [5]
I'm gonna give this one a 5 cuz it felt like one...at least after the half. I began in the chilly rain, and that alone was a feat. When I woke up and saw the 4" of water in our parking lot, the bent over trees, driving rain and emergency vehicles, I thought, but just for a moment, "I'm not running in this"....but then I figured I had run through worse over the years, so I should just suck it up and get to the start....so I did. Crazy insane rainy drive to the shuttle to get me to the athletes village - many cars and lots of trees down on the highway. Stood in the pouring rain to get on a school bus to get me to the start; got to the village before the start and stood in the rain and mud waiting for the john...me and 20000 other folks. At this point I just had to laugh and realise that it was gonna be a great race wether it was sunny or rainy, so I chose to ignore the weather, strip down to my tights and expose the shoes I was trying to keep dry, (everyone was dressed in extra layers and garbage bags etc...) and I sucked it up...warmed up....and the gun went off. The course is awesome, epic even...lots of gradual hills and amazing crowds - ahhh the smell of malted barley was everywhere! I felt pretty good for the first 2/3 - hydrated, legs were happy. The aches set in around the 30K mark as the hills started to wear me down, but I just tried to use my arms as my motivators, and got to the last 200M. Then it was like I had not a pain to be found as the crowds lifted me out of my stupor, and sent me sprinting to the finish...woweeee!!! It truely was an awesome race. Can't wait to see the dvd to see all the top guys and girls do their thing! Figured I did OK seeing as I just wanted to cruise through under 4...

Sunday Apr 15

road run (indoor) 40:00 [2]
