Aus champs relay, in 2nd team on 2nd leg.
so this went really, really badly. Sent oout in 4th, like 4mins behind shallot. Got #1 and #2 alright, then #3 proved to be literally impossible to find. I was in the open flat bit just before the control.. i just couldn't make any sense of the vegetation mapping as on the ground, the open was a lot wider than on the map, so I kept convincing myself i was too low.. so i kept taking bearings in, and just for the life of me couldn't find it. was there for about 20mins, and realised at this rate, my 3rd leg was never going to get a run! so i just came back and got the last few controls.. Emily was out for 90mins anyway, so I don't think we would have ever contended for a podium...
Turns out every person i spoke to who had that control also had big problems and another woman also had to come back because she couldn't find it.. so it made me feel sliiiiightly better lol. but still. mare lol.

After our morning trip to Byron Bay for a swim in the sea and humpback whale spotting (WOOO), we eventually made it to the Aus sprint champs!! :) :)
round Gold coast uni campus, actually very tricky and i really wasn't very clean with the nav.. very hesitant and was also v slow in seeing/making route choices. pushed hard on the legs that you didn't have to check your map all the time, but there weren't many of those! In total about a minute of mistakes, particularly no.8. Didn't expect to come 2nd..!
Beaut sunny day anyway, and really enjoyed it!!

Warrumbungles morning run!!!
awesome day with really fun trails through the forests all the way up to a peak where you had amazing views of all the surrounding mountains and volcanic rock!! was sweeeeeet! so so fun! finished off with a swim in the river at the end :D

Arrived in Warrumbungle national park after a loooong drive. so me n shallot decided to go for a run and had spied a fun looking hill nearby.. looked pretty runnable to start with. but then the veg got so thick and we were literally walking/crawling through all this green. after 20mins of fight we had covered about 1km lol. we then decided to just back and go round the normal, 'easy' path that most people use. by this time it was getting kinda dark... and the path didn't actually seem that easy. it just kept going up and up and we then realised it was taking us to the top of Split Rock which was nearby.. (it was basically dark by now).. and we still had to get down. the path was very, very hard to find, we were very afraid of twisting ankles in the rock and we couldn't see shit! so basically the slowest descent ever happened with an iphone torch to see! LOL. bit of a disaster run hahaha

didn't have a southern hemisphere compass so just borrowed someones that the wrong hand for me... safe to say i am terrible with my map in the other hand lol! bearings did not go well haha

nice pyramid sesh with Ed & Shallot. 1,2,3,4,4,3,2,1 mins (1min jog). track around the bottom of Mt ainslie was pretty undulating so was a bit hard on the uphills, but the last few reps seemed to pass quite quickly which was nice. fuuuun!

easy run with Shallot, Noah Poland & Ed Cory-Wright - went up Mt Pleasant (awesome views) and round mt. ainslie and chased lotsa kangaroos through the bush!! so fun!!! apart from Ed spent the whole time thinking he was gonna be attacked by magpies !
plus i only woke up at 6am today so we're slowly getting there!
