Memo to self - turn on your fricking watch at the start! Got to the Maylands Golf Club waaay too early so headed off looking for the alleged shortcut to Tranby and back around via the police compound. Turned out to be extra distance I didn't need. Today's ride from Maylands to Stickybeaks in KP via Windan, South Perth and UWA included the long slog up by Winthrop and Thomas - deceptively hard going. Stickybeaks is well named it seems - some presumably well-intentioned person turned off my taillight while we having coffee - I don't bother as it's a rechargeable and goes for much longer than 3 hours. Return leg via EQ and Claisebrook was the sealer - somehow the wind had swung around to the east and freshened up while we were in KP and it was hard going. Legs were shattered by the time I got back to Maylands.

Cycling (Saddle time) 3:00:05 [2] 47.68 km (3:47 / km) +40m 3:46 / km

After Friday's FROGs ride, I decided my bum could do with some saddle time (my legs could do with some muscles as well!). Conveniently, I was also tasked to deliver and retrieve my true love from her regular stint at the dog shelter in Southern River.
I set off along Ranford Rd, up the Tonkin PSP to Champion Lakes for a lap and a half then down the Tonkin PSP to Thomas and into Byford to the bakery for coffee and calories. Returned direct to Southern River via Thomas, Tonkin and Ranford.
Bits of Thomas were a bit scary but otherwise a very pleasant ride on a beautiful crisp morning. If I'd seen the way in to a stretch of track along the side of Thomas that was suitable for an MTB, it would have been more relaxed. Note for next time.
Bum and legs are making appropriate complaints but they'll get over it.

Lovely day at Swan Valley Adventure Centre aka Swanleigh - nice combination of not very complex buildings and wide open spaces with just enough features. Simmo's flip maps worked well. The absence of LOST_Richard and a mispunch by Ken D allowed me to cruise into second place in M60, 10 mins behind Rob W - whoo hoo - a wine glass! Just what the doctor didn't order :-)
