Brookton Hwy to Jarrahdale on the MBT - was a bit tougher than expected. I'd ridden 3/4 of it before in 30'ish km round trips but they all felt harder this time. The recent warm weather seemed to have dried out the pea gravel and sandy sections and, naturally, I was at the back of 18 riders so it was all a bit chopped up in the early stages. The rest of the group about turned at the Wongong camp but I was fortunate in having my support crew ready to pick me up at Jarrahdale, so I went on solo. Thankfully, the riding got easier as my body protested more loudly. The car rally didn't mess with the section to Balmoral much - probably swept some of the loose stuff off, in fact. I hadn't ridden Balmoral to Jarrahdale and was pleasantly surprised to find most of it was an old forestry railway line so the grades were quite gentle. Very pleased to reach Jarrahdale and lunch at the General Store.
