shoes: Giant Anthem 2 XL 2019

That was a bit of a mixed bag. Suited me to start at Kent St (the designated coffee stop) and head around to the proper start at Mt Henry bridge. Quite a hard slog into the SWly banging up the Canning River, compounded by the mobile coffee van not being at the bridge when it was most needed. Eventually the mob got organised and we were off down the Freeway, heading for Roe Hwy. Alas the path is diverted at Farrington Road so we spent some time meandering around Leeming (give them their due, the detour was well signed until the end). Bit of confusion at Karel and Roe but eventually we made sense of one the maps on the fence, took another detour and got onto Roe northbound.
That's when the good bit started - the SWly still going strong but at our backs and a relatively flat track so it was time for a squirt! Hit a record 40kph and quite a few bits of 35+. Only ever been that quick on downhills before - good fun.
Turned in along the Canning for the final leg and the only real rain of my ride belted down, so it was a bit of a soggy finale. Didn't envy my compatriots finishing off back to Mt Henry, tho'.
