Treadmill intervals (Intervals) 50:00 [4] 4.7 mi (10:38 / mi)

My intention was to run this outside. I got to the end of the first block when it started raining and by 8 1/2 minutes it was pouring and I turned around and ran home. I did the last 2 intervals on the treadmill. It did take a couple minutes to turn the music room into exercise room again.

Trail Run long (Long run) 3:00:00 [4] 14.0 mi (12:51 / mi)

This felt slow in the beginning but my time was the same as usual. I tried some new shoes and hated them. They were much more shoe than I’m accustomed to wearing you. I got good at the uphills with them, but I never got a good feel on the downhills. I actually ran almost 1/2 mile longer than I usually do I 3 hrs time on this trail.

Trail Run (Easy run ) 44:00 [3] 4.0 mi (11:00 / mi)

This was an amazing run. At the 3 Mile mark, I checked my watch and it was 30 min and a few seconds. That’s not an easy pace for me but it felt pretty easy this afternoon. After a quick cheer, I completely slowed down until I finished.

Concrete/road run (Easy run) 1:00:00 [3] 5.25 mi (11:26 / mi)

I had originally planned on doing the interval run. The first time my right foot hit the concrete, it felt like a spear went between my shoulder blade and into my lung. It didn’t hurt walking. I tried again and by 5 steps, I was in tears. I didn’t have the luxury of passing, so I kept trying. When I ran on the grass next to the concrete, I was fine. At first I thought it was the impact. On the grass, I had very short steps because I didn’t have a light and it was dark. When I would transition the concrete, I extended my stride and it would hurt again. At 20 min, I started having a “productive” cough. After 15 min more, I was totally fine. I guess I had an asthma attack yesterday and because I didn’t clear out my lungs, some gunk got stuck around my shoulder blades. It’s good to know how to deal with this if it ever happens again. It was terrible.

Weight training (Wts) 45:00 [3]

Upper body weights. I also used a lacrosse ball on my back muscles, just to make sure there wasn’t a knot at my shoulder blades holding more gunk in my lungs.

Swimming (Swim laps) 50:00 [3]

I remembered some drills I used to do. I’m sure I did more laps today than I did last week. I’m going to have to figure out how to program auto laps on my Garmin.

Lower body and stretching

Treadmill (Flat walking) 21:20 [3] 1.5 mi (14:13 / mi)

Added this because I had a spare 20 min. I’m trying to speed up my walking and step 1 is flat. 1 mile at 14:15 and 1/2 Mile at 13:55.

Treadmill hills (5 x 5@10:50/3%) 1:03:00 [3] 5.7 mi (11:03 / mi)

Not a good run. I really struggled. I had to drop speed to 11 for 20sec twice each hill. 11 min pace seemed perfectly doable but not 10:50. I did my best and kept trying but just didn’t have it yesterday. No real Achilles’ tendon pain which is good.
