Trail Run long (Second long run) 2:05:00 [4] 10.0 mi (12:30 / mi)

Only trail open was a rails to trail. The surface was in good shape but there were a ton of downed trees over the 5 miles. I pushed much harder than yesterday. It wasn’t a great run but it was better. Tried another pair of shoes and these won’t work for any type of long race either.

This was a horrible run. The rain stopped at 1 pm after days of drenching rain, so I had to run on the sidewalks. I felt horrible but there wasn’t anyway to push it off until I felt better.

Only way to get this run in was to do it on a treadmill. We’ve had so much rain. At the 30 min mark, I started changing the speed to include just a few minutes total of fast walking. It’s hard to do a really slow run on a treadmill.

This was a good run. Due to rain, I ran concrete and road hills in my neighborhood. I found the only hour that it wasn’t pouring. My goal was 5 minutes faster on the 2nd loop, partially because I spent 30seconds on the ground after a fall in the dark. I made it 6. I uses faster. I hadn’t realized how hard I ran on the second loop until I started the cool down and I was really tired.

My new goggles came in so I could swim laps.

Going to the gym at 4 a.m. does leave me with extra time. I’m just starting to play the guitar. I need something to help with the dexterity in my hands and this seemed like a fun challenge. I’ve played the keyboard before and this is so different. Space in our house is at a premium, so I sit on my weight bench with my feet on weights. I also can’t plug it most of the time because the kids are sleeping, so an outside space seems like fun.

After walk I did some stair master and then stretching.

The weather is calling for rain all week. I doubt that I’ll be running on trail and I’m hoping to find an hour or so without rain so I can I can run outside.

Core and legs. I would have gone swimming today except my dog ate my prescription goggles. You gotta love a bored Boxer.

After the next race, I’ll change weights to a circuit routine for a few months.
