Concrete/road run hills (Medium hard) 1:02:00 [4] 5.3 mi (11:42 / mi)

I really tried to rest yesterday and waited until a little later today to run. I ran pretty well. This route has the longest, steepest hills, I.e. overpasses. My focus was to start conservatively and push harder from the middle to the top. That seemed to work well.

Trail Run long (Long hilly) 3:20:00 [4] 14.0 mi (14:17 / mi)

Interesting run. I packed everything I needed plus stuff I didn’t use. I started strong but it rained on me and trail conditions got bad. I slid down one embankment which rattled me a bit. The next mile was slow climb uphill. They’ll be doing some type of reroute soon because this looks almost impossible to ride. Then I got to a 100 yard mud bog which has a weird off camber bridge around a tree. I made the mistake of taking the high side which had the steeper angle. My shoes were caked, the bridge was slick and I had no real choice but to let gravity win. I slid sideways off the bridge and into a creek. I stayed upright but got stuck. I finally made it out after I saw some footprints further into the creek where the bottom was rockier. I still had about an hour of trail left. I didn’t feel too cold until I was done but it really wiped me out.

Treadmill hills (Hill walk) 30:30 [4] 2.1 mi (14:31 / mi)

Basically same as usual. I just can’t shave off even a few seconds.

Trail Run (Recovery) 50:00 [3] 4.35 mi (11:30 / mi)

Nice easy run. First time back on this trail since early September. It was dark and trail was a bit overgrown so it was slower than usual by a few minutes but it was so relaxing.

Treadmill tempo (3@9:30) 55:00 [4] 5.4 mi (10:11 / mi)

Decent run. I did have to hold on a little bit but focusing on form helped. I also had to walk the first 30 seconds of the 90 sec recovery. Just had to catch my breath.
Every few months, I have to see my eye doctor for a long term syndrome connected to my RA. I’m in the midst of a flare up right now. Because the side effects are worse than the disease, he administers steroid drops daily and checks my eye pressure. I can’t mix this w my inhaler but I think it may actually work better. Tomorrow will tell for sure.
