Treadmill hills (Hill cruise) 1:00:00 [4] 5.35 mi (11:13 / mi)

This was an ok run. I did the 5% intervals first and I struggled. Twice I had to reduce the speed and several other times, I had to hold on. I did better with the 3% intervals. Doing the 3 hardest workouts back to back has become a bad habit. Based on my schedule, I’m worried it may workout that way again next week. I’ll try harder.

Trail Run (Additional hike) 1:30:00 [3] 5.0 mi (18:00 / mi)

Hiked Cedar Ridge with my husband. We’ll keep doing this at least once a week. I need the rocky climbs for the Cleburne race and he’s packing his climbing gear for the canyoneering trip to Zion in May. I will eventually hike the Narrows.

Question of the week. Should I run the 8 mile or 16 mile race at Cleburne. I’m torn. There is 1500 ft of climbing each 8 mile loop and it’ll be hot (or rainy). At 8 mile, I can really push the entire way and at 16 miles, I can test myself. I decided I’d past the buck and ask you to decide. My plan is to register by Tuesday because the fee goes up.

Spring has finally arrived here, the air conditioning is on. Summer should start next week. 17 below is ridiculous. Hopefully it’s a bit warmer. We had a bad winter. I had to scrape my windshield twice this year. I love jury duty stories. I never seem to get chosen.

Trail Run long (Flat/hill/flat) 3:02:00 [4] 14.0 mi (13:00 / mi)

Nothing went as planned. Initially it was supposed to storm all morning and this was going to be on road. Then the storms were delayed so I changed to concrete/trail/road. The concrete trail is new and was shorter than I thought. I had to add flat trail to get the hour. The hilly trail was fun. I sprinted down the hills the best I could. Then I ran park road back. My legs felt a bit stiff at the 2nd flat and my triceps were sore from yesterday. Within a few minutes from the end I tripped and smashed my bad knee. It just can’t catch a break.

Concrete/road run tempo (Medium hard) 1:04:00 [4] 6.0 mi (10:40 / mi)

I’m really happy with this run. A 5 min warm up is usually hard for me but was fine. First half I worked on lengthening my stride, the second half, I really drove my elbows back. That really helped. I’ll keep that in mind.

Trail Run (Recovery) 48:00 [3] 4.0 mi (12:00 / mi)

Flat trail near me opened after 8 months. Still had muddy sections. I showed a friend around and hiked another 30 min so she could see the entire trail.
