Concrete/road run intervals (4x1) 46:00 [4] 4.25 mi (10:49 / mi)

Not quite what I had planned. The warm up mile was a bit slow at 12. Each of the next 3 were very a few seconds either side of 10 min. But right after the 3rd, my back started to spasm. I walked towards home and hoped to start running again but it didn’t stop for 90 minutes.

I hope your knee is still improving. Was your trip in a few weeks? Whenever it is, I hope you’re good to go.

I’ve really been struggling with aches and pains this spring. Stress really compounds it. On Wednesday, I threatened to quit work. Not sure how helpful that was, and I still worked another 12 hour day. I will start working on decompressing more. Now if it will just quit raining every other day.

Concrete/road run long (Long run) 2:30:00 [4] 11.0 mi (13:38 / mi)

I left the house this morning and the sky opened up and started pouring. It almost felt like a race morning. I went into work for 5 hours until it quit. With all the rain, most flat routes were flooded. I chose a park between work and home. The first 75 min were very hilly. It will be a good future hilly route. The next 75 min were flat to rolling. I was very pleased with how I ran the hills. I kept a steady pace. I tried to push the downhills but it hurt my knee. The flat portion was slow but steady.

Treadmill (Flat/hill walk) 1:00:00 [3] 4.6 mi (13:03 / mi)

Did the entire workout on the treadmill. I broke it into 15 min segments and kept my boredom at bay.

Treadmill hills (6x11:20 8%) 55:00 [4] 4.8 mi (11:27 / mi)

I’ve learned that 2 min seems like a really long time. The last time these were only 90 seconds. For the most part these went well. I kept the speed at or faster than the hill pace which was nice.

Trail Run (Recovery run) 50:00 [3] 4.5 mi (11:07 / mi)

Nice rolling hill run. My back seemed fine.

I missed the tempo run from last week. My back tightened up and I just couldn’t do it. The pace of 9:40 really wasn’t realistic. I was going to do my best and did feel bad I didn’t do it.
