Not quite as fast as last time.

I’m getting ready for my trip to Idaho. Looking forward to the cooler temps and running on new trails. My Mom isn’t doing great so I’ll be doing less than usual. I had hoped to hike at 7 Devils at Hells canyon but there’s no way she can manage it, so that one probably won’t happen. There will be a trail race in the area on Saturday. I may check it out but since the maps aren’t posted with a week to go, I’m doubtful on the quality of the race.
I hope you have great weather when your company is there. We’d really love to see that area. Right now, summer in the northwest sounds like utopia.

Trail Run long (2 hr medium hard) 2:01:00 [4] 10.5 mi (11:31 / mi)

Not a perfect run. Effort, including heart rate, was 90% medium hard. Pace was there for 45 min in the beginning and 20 min at the end. At 45 min, I hit a hot section of trail and I just slowed down. I kept pushing. At 1:40, I headed back out and actually had my best 1.25 mile. When I got to my car I noted the temp was already 97 degrees.

The flat trail near my house was partially opened last night. I wanted to do a pre-run for tomorrow. The first half was in great shape. I took one loop that hadn’t been cleaned up and got into some serious stickers. The slits on my skirt were stuck together and then I noticed a tick and then 2 more. I stopped my watch and did a check. I decided to finish the strides and stop the run early. The strides went great. 2 were on trail and 2 were on pavement.

Trail Run intervals (Rolling w 2 loops) 1:05:00 [4] 5.5 mi (11:49 / mi)

This was a good run. Based on yesterday’s run, I decided to run out and back for each loop. There’s lots of damage on certain parts of the trail but that portion was good. The second loop was 24 minutes vs 30 min first loop. For this run, I try and control the rest times but due to the heat, I went by heart rate. Also, the easy run was further at 15 min then usual.

My summer started today. The kids went to NJ this afternoon and the lake level has dropped so I can run trail after work. I explored the trail. There were lots of trees down but still better than pavement.
