Trail Run (East rim) 3:30:00 [4] 15.5 mi (13:33 / mi)

A big chunk of this run looked like a hike. I really wanted to make it through the Ponderosa section and into Echo canyon. I got a late start because I was shuttling my husband and our friend to where they needed to be. I also forgot how sandy it was and brought the wrong shoes. Hiking helped me conserve water. Also I was tired from hiking the narrows.

I really have no idea of how far we hiked. The linear distance was about 8 miles but we zigged zagged the entire way. Once we got to Wall Street, the current got strong even though it was deeper towards the beginning. We made the 2nd shuttle because there was such a line for the first. We only got 4 hrs of sleep for the past 2 nights which made my goal of Big Springs a bit too much. I loved this hike. It was so peaceful outbound. On the way back it got busier. In the last .75 mile, there was probably close to 1000 people. It was completely overcrowded and the water went from crystal clear to cloudy.

One of the things we wanted to accomplish on this trip was to look at some land. We saw a 20 acre lot which had a view of both Bryce and Zion. Too bad it would take $45k minimum to get electricity to the property.
This hike was all over the lot.

This was a good run. The last three on minutes were in sun which was tough. I tried to do one extra minute on but it lasted about 30 seconds. A biker wanted to pass and I just couldn’t finish another 30 seconds uphill in the sun.
