I had originally thought I’d go out for a run last night for more heat training. I fell asleep at 8 and it was still over 100 degrees. Just having too much fun. Got up and ran base this morning. The terrain has long but shallow hills. When I planned the route, I didn’t have the scale. My plan was too short, so I just run up one street and down the next. It’s a small base.

My Moms surgery is 8.29. I’ll be in Idaho starting that day until 9.8 and then there’s a good pooibility I go back on the 14th for a week. Our youngest will take over for me and then we’ll decide.

Hope all is well and that your Black Diamond bike race went well. After all that climbing, the downhill part will be the exhausting part.

We took a trip to visit our son and family. We rented a boat and played out on the lake for most of the day. My swimming included pulling my grandsons around

Run was decent. The first interval was a bit slower. The rest were pretty good. As I finished the 6th interval, my left hamstring pulled tight. I took a few seconds to try and release it. The next one was fine but it started to tighten during the last one.

After the long run on Wednesday, I didn’t eat dinner and I paid for it. I was in slow motion all of Thursday. That was a good lesson to relearn.

Wednesday Aug 7 #

Today was the hottest day of the year so it was good training for the Habanero race. I was delayed at work so I had to pick a closer trail which is rolling vs flat. To get extra distance, I did add almost 2 miles of concrete. My time was good considering temp was 105 degrees.
I don’t know what I was taking when I agreed to captain a summer relay but it must have been potent stuff. What a cluster. Too many stories but 2 people work for me and 1 of those hasn’t started training yet. Hmm wonder how that’s going to work. At least she’s quit smoking.

This was an ok run. I’d hoped to do the off minutes faster but I averaged 3.9. If I went to 4 or higher, I couldn’t recover at all.
