Trail Run long (Long run) 1:30:00 [4] 7.0 mi (12:51 / mi)

Today’s run went much better than I had hoped. I’m back to wearing trail shoes so that when I wear the road shoes, they’ll seem like racing flats. This loop always takes at least 90+ minutes. I finished in 84 minutes which included a short time on the ground and then cleaning up. I’m not sure how I cut so much time off. I did start out fast and it’s cooler but that shouldn’t have been enough.

Hope you’re fully unpacked and feeling at home. I’m betting Lucinda has a friend soon. By the way, I’ve always loved your pet names.
COVID cases are surging so our daughter is working lots of hours and we have the kids. We’re taking them on our trip to San Angelo to see our other grandkids. They have a football championship on Friday (kindergarten vs 1st grade) and then a karate tournament on Saturday. I’ll do my long run on Friday before we go. We usually try to ride while there but not this time.
I bought another piece of equipment for my weight room. My goal is to keep up weight lifting. My hope is that it is helping. My thoughts are that the cooler temps are helping but I have to keep injury free.

Concrete/road run race (Virtual 5k) 33:48 [5] 3.12 mi (10:50 / mi)

I’m not sure why. It I never got the email on posting my results. I sent an email, but I doubt I hear from them. I decided to run a hilly course for a change. I did 15 min on trail before and had great footwork. I started out and then noticed that I hadn’t started my watch. I walked back to the start and started again. I didn’t really have any strategy just to go as fast as I could. I also didn’t realize how hilly the route was. Each mile got slower but overall I was happy with the time. I cooled down by walking until I could run again. It took about 20 minutes.

Weight training (Wts) 35:00 [3]

Upper body and core. I did a few crunches from a declining position on my wt bench. That really irritated my back but everything else went well.

Treadmill hills (9 hills @ 90 sec) 1:00:00 [4] 5.15 mi (11:39 / mi)

Even though I was tired the last hill intervals were easier than the earlier that were steeper.

spinning hills (Spin bike) 35:00 [4]

Did 10 min of higher cadence and then 20 min of hills and then 5 min cool down. I stood up for 1.5 to 2.5 then sat for 30 to 60 seconds, increased resistance and kept going. I’d rather been riding outside but today is the 3rd day of rain.
