Mountain bike ride (technical trail) 1:45:00 [4]

I didn't quite make a few hours. This was a technical trail that doesn't have any flat areas to rest. My initial plan was to do 2 hours on a rails to trails but it is 90 minutes away which would have made it a 5 hour event. My husband was going to go with me but started not feeling good and nothing was going right; his bike rack broke, a seal on my old my Epic broke, etc. So I ended up going to a closer trail without him. This ride was somewhere between moderate and hard effort. My new bike loves to go downhill but at first the uphills were giving me trouble. I'm accustomed to using a power stroke to pop over roots on an uphill but I couldn't get my gearing right. Finally I just started spinning up the hills and it climbed over them.

Our trip to Zion was changed to Big Bend due to weather. Lots of riding, hiking, running and hopefully rafting will be in my future. We will be gone the 13th to 21st. On the 22nd, I start my new job. I'm so looking forward to it. It's a step down in pay, but I will only be working my 8 hrs a day and I'll be 100% remote. And that sounds so good.

I liked your bike story. That happened to my husband once and we were at a big group ride and he missed all the fun. I'm an odd duck. I ride with the same mtn bike pedals and shoes on all my bikes, except our tandem. It happened because I had a bad left pedal the day before a tri and my only choices were cheap platforms or those. I loved how I could run through the transition area and not slip and didn't have to leave my shoes on the bike and get gravel on my feet that then irritated me the entire ride. My road bike is a DeRosa Tango. It's flashy looking and has Time ATC's. It's a one of a kind.

Also like your bear photo. That must have been something to see. Hope you're having a good start to Spring.

Trail Run long (smooth trail steady) 1:59:00 [4] 9.75 mi (12:12 / mi)

Didn't make the 11:45 pace for the 2nd hour. The first hour was very close at 11:50. It was easy/moderate pace. At 59:55, I just started to feel it. I generally start slow and then pick up. This time, I pushed hard from the beginning and I felt it later. At 90 minutes, my kidney problem started again and that slowed me down a bit, maybe 10 minutes. If I stretched out my gate at all, I felt cramping. It eventually subsided but it's hard to forget. My original thought was to run concrete, and that would have been a bit faster, but the trail was in perfect shape and I really wanted to comfort of the dirt.
I did change my drink from Nuun to Scratch. I will try that again next long run and see if it helps.

Treadmill hills (hill walk) 30:30 [4] 2.1 mi (14:31 / mi)

My preference would have been to do a hike, but I had the grandkids. I just can't seem to get any faster and I may be losing a few seconds over the years. Guess that's how it goes.

Weight training (Front) 45:00 [3]

Basically same as last week.

Trail Run hills (easy hill w strides) 58:00 [4] 4.85 mi (11:58 / mi)

This was a pretty good run. It did get dark on me the last few minutes. I did the strides starting at 40 minutes and had them done prior to needing a light. Plenty of choices on this trail and didn't want to land on the ground for no reason. Strides felt easy today.

Treadmill tempo (flat speed ) 1:10:00 [4] 6.6 mi (10:36 / mi)

This was one of the better treadmill runs I've had in the past month. The first interval was good. Each one after that obviously got harder and I had to walk a bit more each recovery. The last 2 had me holding on a few seconds at a time but not bad at that speed.
