Mountain bike ride (Trail ride) 1:30:00 [4]

I had a great ride today. I had to go solo because my husband was working on a home project. The trail closest to us just opened a new loop and it was a blast. It was so much fun, I did 2 loops. Once it is actually smoothed out rather than just weed whacked, it’ll be great. I had 2 small incidents, nothing like a bonk w 1000 ft of climbing left though.

I hope you had a nice Easter. We kept it low key and relaxing. My new job is agreeing w me. My resting heart rate is now down to 49 and I’m generally sleeping through the night. My house is much cleaner too. If I’m going to be home all day, it needs to be tidy. My husband has worked from home a few days and he is learning he needs to be neater. He worked from home and left all of his computer gear on the kitchen table and left for 5 hrs or so. When he got back, he wondered where his stuff was. I told him there had been complaint and maintenance had packed it up and moved it to the lobby. The look on his face was great. I translated that I cleaned up after him and put it by the door for him. He was thrilled normally he has to clean up after himself.
I’m looking at doing one or two 5ks during the spring or summer plus there is a local night trail race with a date of TBD, and a distance around 15 miles. I’m waiting just a bit longer to work out details. I’m done with virtual races. I never could post my results for the last one. Also keep swimming as an option. We are installing a heater and I should be able to use our pool in a few weeks. I won’t be getting a gym membership soon but I might try joining a running club. I’m just so busy w the kids on Saturday, it’s hard.

Trail Run long (Hilly trail) 2:27:00 [4] 10.0 mi (14:42 / mi)

Chose a hilly trail rather than rolling due to weather. It was cooler and lots of riders out so this trail is quieter. It usually is a 2 hr 20 min trail but at 90 mins, I was way ahead of schedule. There is one place that I can jump back and rerun a tough section. I timed it at 20 minutes and that worked well.
I tried a new drink and it’s ok but I still like Nuun better and in a few months I’ll probably go back. It seems that it is really the sugar that is getting me and not specific to a drink.

I pushed hard as possible on the walk and did about 10 seconds faster than usual. I did add 5 min running cool down and that actually seemed tough.

Treadmill (Recovery w strides) 59:00 [3] 4.95 mi (11:55 / mi)

Early morning run. Needed a headlight until the last 15 min and I did a different route than I’ve been doing. I covered a loop rather than an out and back. Spiders are just starting to get to work at nights and I only have a few more weeks before I have to run w a stick to cut through all the webs. I still found good spots on the trail for the strides and they were good.

The closest rolling trail wasn’t going to work this morning due to traffic so I went the other direction to a concrete trail. Not something I usually do. The run went really well though. I was running well from having a day off and had to remind myself to run slower on the first loop. I cut over 3 minutes on the 2nd and did it in 5 segments. Since I’m now 100% working from home, I will probably do more morning runs which may mean a bit more road.

Not a good run. I never felt like I got into a good rhythm. Yesterday was a big day so I’m probably just tired.
