| PTOC's Bluffwoods score course - signed up for the 3-hr race, planned to be out only 2 hours so I wouldn't overdo it or hurt myself.
Didn't find the first 50 pointer close by (not sharp having done so little mapreading lately), so decided to go after the higher points along the steep west slope by the road. After stopping at #31, 2nd step heard a snap on the back side of my left knee. 3rd - 4th steps were sore. Rats! Don't go on - do not pass go - go directly to jail... Another new injury. How? Bluffwoods is the steepest area around here. Every uphill is a walk. Thur - we did lunging exercises. Fri - the hamstrings were sore (iced, Biofreeze). Also, been doing the stretching exercises Dr Rob Jones gave me. . . I wonder if I'm overdoing any of those? Got up this morning: overall felt tired. Getting older was the topic with Mike Shifman. He said he's been through it - chronic hamstring problems, etc. Recommend I adjust pace and stride; rest between workouts, cycle instead of run. | ||

Did 6 pullups beforehand. Use wrap, but did not wear long pants over shorts for 1st time in weeks. Got there earlier and did more stretching on own. | ||

| Saw Dr. Rob Jones the ART (Active Release Technique)/chiropractor today. I've been doing the routine half-wrong. Heat (not ice) before run, then ice afterwards. Worked on the knots inthe lower left calf and the right hamstring. Also looked at the left lower back which started getting sharp pains if I sat or stood the wrong way. Will check with insurance before continuing treatment. But, can at least do the recommended exercises.
Coughing all day yesterday (off and on, went to bed, coughed, finally figured I should take cough medicine). Ate a lot of cough drops today. | ||
