slept:8.0 shoes: Hoka Clifton 6

set out controls for the Overlook Park orienteering. Since the gate to the shelter was locked, had to run a little further to set out markers. We had a nice meet, about 40 signed up and 35 came today.

strength/stretching warm up/down 15:00 [3]
slept:7.0

pre-run stretch, Dog Days exercises, post run stretches.
8 AM

running/walking 36:00 [3] 3.5 mi (10:17 / mi)
ahr:128 max:180 shoes: New Balance 880

easy jog for half mile to warm up before meeting with Dog Days Group to do warmup exercises. Then did 2.9 mi. in 29 min: 9th/Vermont to JRP, Murphy Hall, Union and back to start. Ran 100% and felt stronger and faster today than other recent runs. Have a race in two weeks - may do better than last year's Senior Games 10K. One good long uphill (11th St) and one gradual uphill behind Wescoe Hall.
Garmin says I was in zone 4 54% of the time (123-137 bpm).
11 AM

orienteering (walking/running) 53:13 [3] 1.97 mi (27:01 / mi)
shoes: Hoka Clifton 4

Clinton Overlook Park - hanging tapes for tomorrow's event. Probably more walking than jogging. Tired from the morning run and I had an upset stomach.

strength/stretching 40:00 [1]
slept:7.5

rainy morning, so not running - yet.
Did usual Dog Days-esque calisthenics and stretching. 5x25 pushups.
11 AM

running/walking hills 39:00 [2] 3.62 mi (10:46 / mi)
shoes: Hoka Clifton 6

Deerfield Hills, but went up Wagon Wheel first, in opposite of usual direction and getting to down Lawrence Ave. to home. Ran in light sprinkle rain, nice. Ran 100%, no walking and felt more energetic today.

Note
(rest day)

should have biked or done an easy run, but rested.
Appt w/ cardiologist in the afternoon - she agreed I can continue to stay off Carvedilol. Seems to lessen the times I feel faint after a shower or getting up from the easy chair or bending over.

strength/stretching warm up/down 5:00 [1]

at home before driving to river trails

running/walking (trail run) 1:52:04 [3] 808.0 mi (8 / mi)
ahr:108 max:130 slept:8.0 shoes: Brooks Cascadia

Kaw River Trail run - first time perhaps this year. Nice to be in the woods. Only stubbed my toe once and didn't fall. Sorta did Galloway intervals of walking 30 sec every 1/3 of a mile. Took a salt pill at the turnaround. Gu gel at about 50 min. Lots of people enjoying the trail today - bikers, hikers, families. Being in the shade helped a lot.
Met Mike E. right as the start of my run; he was on his bike with a map holder.
