Body tired, starting to not care, lousy navigation, hot. In retrospect, I was starting to come down with the crud. Bruised the ball of my foot. The soles of my shoes were notably softer at 85 degrees than they are at 55.

3-hour Score-O. Confused by a dot knoll right on a contour line, thinking it was the symbol for a depression. So I was looking for a hole, not a hill.Ggot fooled by one of the decoy controls. Thought a wash was a road and got totally lost. Spent prob a 1/2 hour confused. Finally relocated and then understood the map and all went smoothly from there. Finished 3 minutes late. Had lots of fun. Drank lots of water and felt good to the end.

Felt very good 'running' and generally did well navigating exc for blowing one control - prob 20 minutes lost. Very flat. The washes were more interpretable here, perhaps because there weren't roads to confuse them with.

In hilly grassland with scattered oaks. I spent a lot of time trying to relate the terrain to the map. I must have been slow at that tho'. Finished in middle of the pack.
