O race race 47:34 [4] *** 5.84 km (8:09 / km) +170m 7:07 / km
spiked:12/14c

Riverina championships at Wagga Wagga on a map near to town called Pomingalarna. Course advertised as 4.5 km with 135 m of climb. Most of the map was a hillside with low white cyprus pine, lots of MTB tracks and water control contour banks interspersed with diggings and small watercourses. Mainly lost time on one leg when I used rough compass combined with followed someone to the wrong control up a steep hill and took a while to relocate. Lost about 4 minutes here. Couple of other small misses tho. Off the pace a bit too with Mr Average winning the class in 41 minutes (altho he lived here a while so had home ground advantage).
Best ever presentation after the event. Only awarded a prize to the man and woman that had the largest proportional win in their A class - so only two winners and one was Liz!

Run 28:41 [4] 4.65 km (6:10 / km) +105m 5:33 / km

Set a world record for this run today - a 45 second improvement - having a longer warm up seemed to help - conditions were windy and 16C. Toward the end of the run you pass a large flat grassed area - today it looked like a carpet of kangaroos - so many laying down resting.

O race race 52:01 [4] 6.13 km (8:29 / km) +198m 7:18 / km

Tables were turned at the Sandhills O race - both Liz and I did the red 3 course - advertised as 5.2 kms. And I had a 7 minute win over Liz. I was a bit fortunate tho as I kept picking off runners ahead leading into controls which made it easier to find the flags - then I put in a good long leg and toward the end of the leg I was able to hitch onto a train led by Devil (on his comeback from a bike crash) for the last 4 controls. In comparison Liz started later when the train had long left the station (so as to speak). Great area for orienteering but some vegetation needs a remap and the subtle gullies in a few areas could do with a rework I think - it was mapped quite a while ago. Great weather and some nice knolls in the open area used for the last few controls was quite a change to the forested rocky areas.
