MTB 30:27 [3] 8.47 km (3:36 / km) +100m 3:24 / km

Short hit out on single tracks at Stromlo - rain over night made them a bit sticky in places. Nice to move legs other than running.

Strength and conditioning 30:00 [3]

Mainly stretching post 5 sprint O runs over the past 4 days. Using the roller again after a long break - still feels painful on the lower legs and ITBs.

O race 23:53 [3] 3.26 km (7:20 / km) +20m 7:06 / km

Race 5 and final event of Sprint Canberra at ANU South - bit of an advantage here for me as I was the controller for the ACT Sprint champs 2 years ago held on parts of this map. Nevertheless it was a tough navigational challenge - well set courses with tricky areas which led you to dead ends if not careful - poor route choice between 9 and 10 and 10 to 11 but rest were good. Pleased body held up and finished strong and probably one of my better performances of the race series. SI Air available at event but I did not use it - neither did most of my main competitors - but it is the way to go for these events - just need to spend $105 for another stick. Will hire for Melbourne Sprints and Tassie.

O race 22:15 [3] 3.05 km (7:18 / km) +60m 6:39 / km

Race 4 of Canberra Sprints on a new map for me - Orana School at 1 to 2000. Being a Steiner schools nothing was straight - buildings, fences etc had bends every where which made for great sprint orienteering - a small area which suited the scale. Scope for improvement on leg 1 and 3 - in both cases not looking at compass and heading off the wrong way enroute to the control. Settled after 3 and felt tired at the end - 22 controls! tough leg with climb between 18 to 19 which cooked the motor. Great setting and area tho for sprint O.

O race 27:30 [3] 2.6 km (10:35 / km) +100m 8:52 / km

Race 3 of Canberra Sprints on Bruce Ridge with a remap. Felt tired and struggled in the bush terrain - plus somehow lost about 2 minutes going between 12 to 13 when I did not follow the compass closely enough. Glad to have finished strongly - fortunate there was a cool change before the event which dropped the temp about 5 C. Still very sweaty work tho.

O race 20:50 [3] 3.16 km (6:36 / km) +28m 6:19 / km

Race 2 of the Canberra Sprints at Uni of Canberra - an area I have been on only once before if I recall. First starter which was good as heat building up today. Course listed as 3 kms and garmin said I did 3.16 kms. A couple of tricky legs and some stair walking! No mistakes just lacked a bit of zip in the legs - radio control times suggested I slowed over last half of course compared to some of my main age competitors - ok tho given low running base.

O race 17:40 [3] 2.78 km (6:21 / km) +5m 6:18 / km

Race 1 of Sprint Canberra at the AIS - nice course. Listed as 2.9 km and garmin says I did 2.78? Tricky leg from 1 to 2 which I executed well after looking at map for a while before dashing off. Helped that some parts of the course ran thru areas where the OA annual conference is held - but other parts I was less familiar with.

ride with Peter 1:34:00 [3] 38.0 km (2:28 / km) +250m 2:24 / km

Peleton of 4 on the LGB ride but without Peter who had escaped to the coast to beat the heat. Again won the hill sprint but did involve taking Des on the inside with 10 metres togo to the finish line - avoided hitting the spectator barricades. Cooler conditions today and arrived at coffee stop just before some rain went thru - a few drops on the way back but at least it was cool for a change.

Run 13:21 [3] 2.53 km (5:17 / km) +28m 5:00 / km

Deek's cross country track run and further improvement but still 15 seconds off record. Overcast conditions but humid. Ran steep short hill near the start today so that was good. R knee a bit grumbly at the start altho settled after 1.5 kms.
