road cycling 2:15:00 [3] 44.0 km (3:04 / km) +350m 2:57 / km

Tour de Lake with Liz as part of her training program for the Vic Bike Ride. Lovely riding weather. For variety in life rode the lake route in the reverse direction. Had a short stop at site of WW1 training trenches near Duntroon which they are sign posting etc. Also they are setting up a above ground simulated trench but without the mud and misery of the real thing. Coffee refill at the arboretum with the mtb crowd before dancing on the pedals up the 25 per cent hill climb to our house.

Peleton of 6 but without Peter who is walking somewhere in India. Usual LBG circuit. No competition on the Scrivener Dam hill sprint - but still put in an effort to maintain my reputation. Strong westerly wind which made the ride home from the coffee shop quite tough - especially up to Col de Warragamba.

Run 38:24 [3] 6.22 km (6:10 / km) +96m 5:44 / km

Run from abode to around bits of the lower slopes of Mt Stromlo with Grant. Did short part of the cross country track. Warm, dry and hard packed ground. Legs still feeling the win on Sunday.

ACT Long Champs on the northern (and vague) part of the Sandhills. Map said that we were celebrating 35 years of orienteering on the Sandhills. At last a win!
A number of the more fancied M65A titans blew up on the course - whereas I did not make any errors other than falling over a broken fence toward the end. Start was in a open paddock and I saw that there were drinks at the first control. In the end it was not a long first leg but a control on another course with drinks. However, to 1 required a 60 degree turn to the left out of the start box and a 200 metre run in a paddock past the remote finish before entering the forest. Different.

Found the map to be much easier than orienteering in the Yukon - plus no bears but others saw lots of deers. Most dams and ponds on the map were bone dry. Course advertised as 4.7kms so I did a bit extra to make sure I nailed the termite mounds (including the one listed as 0.3 metres high) in the areas with low vegetation/bracken.

Park run 27:48 [3] 5.0 km (5:34 / km) +48m 5:18 / km

Burley Griffen Park run - decided to run with Katie today to support her efforts to break her PB. Felt good for 4 kms but tightened up over the last km. Hard to believe when I first ran this about 6 months ago this was around my flat out pace time. KB broke her PB and even out sprinted me at the end - didn't tell me she was going to do that given I had slowed down later in the race to help her catch up to me. Cool conditions but nice when warmed up.
