Running training paying off with a comfortable and fast (for me) run today. Our visiting French O scholar did the same course 10 minutes and 5 seconds faster tho!!

Very pleasant running conditions and slightly cool to start. Easier than running in the humidity at the coast for the last 2 park runs.

Cruisy MTB ride to arboretum for coffee and then back home. Peleton of 4 plus Rucks the kelpie. Doubt the max heart rate figure from the garmin watch is correct tho.

Thursday Feb 21 #

Running training at the arboretum - start finish with a 2 km single track run around Dairy Farmers Hill - then a tough loop with a mix of running on soft grass - then down the lawn of the amphitheatre and a loop back via a track - did it 4 times - followed with the usual 6*120 metre sprints. Cool wind helped but did mean some legs were into the wind a bit. Rest periods between sprints still in the time.

Wednesday Feb 20 #

6 AM

New location and start time - 6 am - bit of a test. Instructor set off the alarm getting access to the school hall so did first few exercises on the concrete outside in the dark (but some building lights are on). When alarm sorted back to the dance steps and other exercises - funny retirement experience to be arriving home at 7.15 am having already done an exercise activity.

Peleton of 5 and a very fast ride into the coffee shop - average speed was 28 kph said Des. I spent most of the time hanging onto the back of the 3 person lead out group - cooked my legs coming second in the hill sprint after I went on the attack way to early.

Ride home fast enough despite everyone agreeing to take it easier.

Run from home with KB to Stromlo early in the morning. Felt good up to about the 4 km mark - which was when we started to climb to get back home. Need more downhill running routes to feel comfortable.

Usual spin around LBG basins with Peter as a warm up for the regular Wednesday ride. Pleasant riding conditions and nice coffee at 38. Recovered from the O train by now.

Very tiring recovery single track ride after the O training - felt flat so bailed out quickly to the Handlebar cafe at Stromlo for some cake and Sprite.
