Walked with the pack to top of Stromo and back - stopped for coffee at Handlebar where a MTB event was on and lots of riders around. Nice morning - needed to rest the body a bit after a hard work out in the garden.

"Rucks" ride but took it easier after last nights running efforts. So straight to coffee stop after the zoo single tracks. Pleasant ride back before attacking the garden - mattocking out plant roots and shifting soil.

Running technique training at the arboretum as usual - with the end of daylight savings needed to use a headlight for the last quarter of the session. And just for a change we used the roads - a 1 km stretch from the turnoff to Wide Brown Land and back - uphill for the first third at least. Did it 5 times at tempo pace. Nice doing the second half as mostly downhill - white line fever watching the road markings fly by. Shorter session as only recorded running time and not the 1 minute recovery periods between legs - or most of the warm up run to the start (which was uphill).

Focus today was on many rounds of exercises that hurt the glutes and core with some dance steps thrown in at the end.

Warm up ride with Brad climbing Mt Stromlo then we joined another 4 riders for the usual LBG circuit. Third in the hill sprint after legs gave up half way up the hill - pity as had grabbed a good break on my other two main protagonists when I attacked. Pleasant coffee break and a nice cruise home afterwards which suited given the extra distance covered today.

Rode with Grant and John S while the grannies did their ride from Crace - our route took us over Percival Hill and Mt Rodgers. Far bit of wheel sucking given we rode into a westerly for quite a while at the start. Managed to score the last raisin scone (which came with jam and cream) at $3.50 at the coffee stop much to the disappointment of the rest of the peleton and a number of the grannies.

Usual recovery spin on Stromlo single tracks - lots of roos spectating altho not as many spectators as on the Tour of Flanders last night. Also saw about 1000 bunnies earlier when I visited woolies.

Return to beautiful Badja - weather was perfect and after plenty of rain here the countryside was a nice green colour. Less than stellar start to my race tho by throwing away 10 minutes on the first control. Micounted or mistook the gullies with clearings and sailed past the control into a unknown area with lots of boulders which all looked the same. Spent too long trying to relocate rather than backtracking to a know point. Rest of the course was better but not much zip in the legs and on one leg going thru a lot of bracken was tough. Took wider route choices to try and avoid thicker areas - course was only advertised as 5 kms. Nice forest made up for my performance today.
